There are many options out there, but two common choices are PUL and absorbent cotton terry cloth. PUL fabric is water-resistant and will repel spills, but this may direct the liquid toward the wearer’s lap. On the other hand, cotton terry cloth is highly absorbent and will soak up spills, keeping the wearer’s clothing dry.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-layout-key="-5w+c2-h-3a+jz"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-5296551670227259"
     data-ad-slot="8545031125"></ins>

When it comes to fasteners, snaps are a great option for both PUL and cotton terry cloth bibs. They are easy to use and secure, and they won’t damage the fabric like some hook-and-loop closures can. Snaps also make it easy to adjust the bib to fit different neck sizes.

To attach snaps to your bib, you’ll need a snap pliers tool and some snaps. First, mark the placement of your snaps on your fabric. Then, use the snap pliers tool to attach the snap halves to each side of the bib. Be sure to test the snaps to ensure they are securely attached and functioning properly.

When sewing your bib, keep in mind that PUL fabric requires a bit of extra care. It is best to use a ballpoint or stretch needle and to avoid ironing the fabric directly. Instead, use a pressing cloth to protect the fabric. If you’re using cotton terry cloth, consider pre-washing and drying the fabric before cutting and sewing to prevent shrinkage.

Either will require a binding around the circumference to make a nice finished look, unless you make a lining or reversible backing. Be sure to apply the snaps before you enclose the bib with a backing.

<ins class="adsbygoogle"
     style="display:block"
     data-ad-format="fluid"
     data-ad-layout-key="-5w+c2-h-3a+jz"
     data-ad-client="ca-pub-5296551670227259"
     data-ad-slot="8545031125"></ins>

Someone asked me lately about what fabric to use on an adult bib and what fasteners to use.
