Plus Size Denim Dress Sewing Pattern: 14X-24 Stretch Denim with Invisible Zipper

Our Jeannette Jumper Dress comes in 14X-24 sizes, but can be adjusted 2 sizes down or up by an accomplished sewist.  Wear this sleeveless jumper with a fitted top underneath.  Easy to put on with the invisible zipper and V neck design.

We’ve designed the top and bottom with vertical bust and waist darts which provides a slimming design.

Use a structured denim to hide bulges you’re not a fan of.  Use a slightly more stretchable fabric with less structure if you’re so inclined.

Goes to above the knee or, advanced sewers can lengthen to below the knee.

Fastenings:  18″ Invisible Side Zipper

Main Fabric: 4.5 – 7.5 oz stretch denim, corduroy, blends with 3% elastine.   Suggestion:  Shop around for affordable fabrics.  They can be found, but fabrics toward the beginning of fall season are top prices.  Look for clearance.

Fabric Suggestions

Weight: 4.5 to 7.5 oz

Wovens with up to 3% Spandex or Elastane.  Chambray/Spandex, Lightweight Denim/Spandex, Cotton or Cotton Blend / Spandex (careful of weight here), Poly Twill/Spandex, Corduroy/Spandex.

We recommend:

7 oz Yarn-Dyed Stretch Denim with 98% Cotton/2%Spandex with 10% stretch across the grain, soft hand and nice drape.

Notions

Optional: 1/2″ stay tape (Dritz Stay Tape) for neckline and armhole.

Invisible Zipper: At least 18″ or 45cm

Skill Level Intermediate

This dress is too ambitious for a beginner.  An intermediate sewist who understands or can watch the burrito roll video, can successfully accomplish this sew.

Experience or practice with an invisible zipper (one the side seam), is recommended.  Buy a few extra zippers and practice on sample fabric to be sure about finishing the ends of the zipper.

Extremely detailed information is provided for both the zipper and the burrito roll.

Molly McGuire

Hi! My name is Molly McGuire, and my number one passion is sewing. In fact, I've dedicated my entire life to it. When I was a little girl, I used to love watching my grandma work on her sewing machine. She could make anything. She made all the clothes for the entire family, and it was so amazing! Today, I continue my grandma's legacy by making clothes for our extended family and teaching proper sewing techniques to our students. I get a great deal of satisfaction from teaching others. Once again, thank you for visiting my blog and please feel free to reach out to me! I would love to hear from you! Enjoy! Molly
