Flapper Dress with Gloves Sewing Pattern: Lined, Bust Darts, Sleeveless

This lovely top  lined women’s flapper dress sewing pattern is available only in our paid pattern library.  For more on how to purchase our 125+ sewing patterns for a one time $67.  We offer something for everyone in our pattern database.  See the Offer Here.

We love this flapper dress because it is a lined quality piece which can be made with a crepe fabric for a well constructed wardrobe piece, OR  the base dress can easily be changed to make the flapper dress costume.  Lengthen or shorten the hem line or lengthen or shorten the flanges.

Advanced sewists could add beading to the bodice in all kinds of different designs and bead types.  Check out Pinterest for ideas on designs.

This pattern also comes with a basic flapper glove pattern and instructions.  Again, make the gloves as simple or dressy as you like, but by changing the fabric.

Flapper Dress Costume: Advanced Sewing Pattern

This dress pattern is a bit more difficult for the Intermediate sewist because of the lining and the bust dart that may need to be adjusted.

If you use this simply as a costume, you may not have to be too picky about the dart and where they hit.

The lining is constructed by using the burrito roll method, which we have used on many of our sleeveless dress patterns.  We have detailed written instructions as well as a video demonstration on how to do the burrito roll.

Margie Vaudreuil

Hi! My name is Margie, and my number one passion is sewing. In fact, I’ve dedicated a big part of my life to mastering it and teaching it to others. When I was a little girl, I loved watching my mother at her sewing machine. She could make anything—it felt like magic. She created clothes for our whole family, and that left a lasting impression on me. Today, I carry that same spirit forward through my own work—designing, sewing, and teaching others the techniques that truly elevate their skills. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than helping someone go from “just getting by” to feeling confident and capable in their sewing. Thank you so much for being here. If you ever want to reach out, I’d truly love to hear from you. Enjoy! Margie
