We recommend these patterns for weddings, showers, anniversaries, graduations, baptisms.   The simple change of a fabric’s sheen or opaqueness transforms these skirts to for wearing to any venue.

Alouette Skirt Faux Wrap Skirt with Ribbon (option) Advanced Level

We love the sensual look that is easily achieved with a full bodied and robust figure.  You will definitely attract the masses.  The fuller figured, the better!  Build on that hourglass or create one with this style!

We easily graded down to a size 14 ~ just trim off seams and hems evenly except the center back seam.

Fabrics:  5.5 to 10oz/yd Weight Knits, Double Knit Jerseys, Double Jerseys with a 4 way stretch.

Composition:  Polyamide 90%, 10%Spandex,
Polyester 95%/Spandex 5%
Polyester 97%/Spandex 3%
45%Algodon/45%Polyester/10%Spandex
Caution:  Modal is lovely, but it is heavy and adds a lot of drape and bulk on the ribbon.  If using Modal, don’t design with the ribbon.
 
We used:  Merchant’s Brand Ponte De Roma 95% Poly / 5% Spandex 10% stretch across the grain.
 
Notions: 
No Roll Elastic Waist Band 3/4″ or 2 cm wide

The "Bronwen"Double Knit Pencil Skirt / Intermediate Level

We love this skirt for it’s fitted look with darts, side invisible zipper and kick pleat!  
 
Fabric:  5.5 to 10oz/yd knit with 10-25% stretch.  Polyester or Poly Blends: 4 Way Double Knit Fabric such as: Ponte
 
We used a 10 oz double knit ponte with 20% stretch across the grain and it had a fitted and classic look.  
 
Notions:  Invisible Side Zipper at least 14″, and stretch fusible interfacing.

The "Suzanne"Stretch Plisse Knit Skirt Beginner / Intermediate Level

Plus Plisse Stretch Knit Skirt
We loved working with this beautiful fabric.  The pleats are natural to the fabric composition and you don’t need to make pleats or irion them to have a pleated look.  
 
These pleats are also more attractive to the plus size shape in that they do not create unwanted bulk at the waist and hip.
 
Recommended Fabric: Stretch Plisse Knits (do not make a lining with plisse. Select darker colors to avoid transparency.
 
100% Polyester, Lightweight up to 5oz
4 way Stretch: 50% (vertical), 20% (across the grain).
 
We used a 4.6oz, 100% polyester stretch plisse knit fabric which featured small pleats, a beautiful sheen and was semi-sheer.
 
Optional Fabric: Jersey with same weight and stretch as plisse.  
 
Notions: 1 1/4″ or 3cm wide elastic for waistband. Length approximately 39″.
 
This has a simple elastic waistband and is made elegant by the fabric type.  We’ve structured this dress to fit nicely at the waist, yet be forgiving at the belly.  The skirt should drape away from the body and present a graceful and attractive look for work, weddings, Christenings, and other dress events.

  1. Hi Jeanette, OMGish, why have you not written me at support@sewingpatternsecrets.com? I’m sending an account reset to your email. Open it on Ipad, Tablet or better Desktop. If that doesn’t work, either write me or call me at 833-SEW-EASY and we will figure it out. The majority of any issues are usually that you are looking from your cell phone and the screen is simply not wide enough to see the entire pattern library when it expands to the right, so it views all the patterns at the bottom of the page, and you’d have to know to scroll to the bottom of the page.
