Women’s Skirt Sewing Pattern Review: Beau Petale’ Skirt for Work or Play


We love our Beau Petale’ Skirt for it’s polished and fitted look.  Wear to office, night out, or casual special day event depending on your fabric choice.  Flatters the legs and posterior.
 

Features:

Weight/Stretch: 5.5 to 10oz/yd2 knit with 5% Elastine
 
Double Knit Fabric:  Ponte de Roma, Ponte, Interlock, Pique in Polyester or Poly blend, Cotton or Cotton Blend, Double Knit Jersey, Neoprene or Scuba (but not with padding) knit Jackard.  Scuba Crepe Knit, Stretch wovens like scuba 95% spandex 6%.
 
Notions:  Fusible stretch interfacing 
 
Tools:  Zipper Foot or Invisible Zipper Foot
 
Intermediate:  The invisible zipper/waistband combo is a bit tricky for a beginner, so we set the level at Intermediate.

Sizes and Fit: Fitted Sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL

This pattern is fitted closer to the body, and has about 1.0″ or 3cm of ease.   

Intermediate Skill Level

This is a very easy skirt to construct.  The side invisible zipper is difficult for most beginners.  

Fabric

This skirt is unlined.  We recommend a stable knit such as a double ponte or a scuba crepe.

Equipment

A serger is not required, but for some knits you may like to use one. Alternatlvely, you might try a overlock or overcast foot on your regular sewing machine.

This pattern requires only 15 pieces of paper and the instructions have only 11 steps and 14 pieces of paper.  (You can also follow along on your tablet or laptop.
