Sewing Buzzers, have you ever wondered how designers create stunning outfits without wasting fabric and time? We’ll let you in on a little secret – it’s called 3D computer design! In this blog, we’ll explore the top three brands that help designers make their ideas come to life in 3D.
Creating Flawless Home Sewing Patterns with 3D Computer Design
The world of sewing pattern design has seen an incredible evolution in recent years thanks to 3D computer design software. This powerful technology has revolutionized the process of pattern development, making it faster, more efficient, and more precise than ever before.
Virtual Pattern Testing
One of the most significant benefits of using 3D computer design software for home sewing patterns is the ability to virtually test patterns before ever cutting a single piece of fabric. This virtual pattern testing allows designers to adjust and refine patterns until they achieve the perfect fit.
Efficiency in the Pattern Development Process
With 3D computer design software, pattern development becomes significantly more efficient. Designers can create patterns quickly and easily, and make adjustments with precision and accuracy.
Precision Adjustments for a Universal Fit
3D computer design software also allows for precision adjustments to achieve a universal fit. Designers can make small tweaks to the pattern to accommodate different body shapes and sizes, resulting in patterns that fit flawlessly on a wide range of people.
Improved Pattern Grading
Pattern grading, or the process of adjusting a pattern to fit different sizes, is made easier and more accurate with 3D computer design software. Designers can easily adjust patterns for different sizes and create graded patterns that fit consistently across different body types.
Popular Brands for 3D Design Software in Fashion and Pattern Design:
First up, we have CLO3d – a top-rated software for creating accurate and efficient designs. With CLO3d, designers can easily create and visualize their garment designs in a virtual environment, without having to produce a physical sample. We love this clean look. It is the most popular program among design firms and they train their employees on it’s use. The subscription for this software is affordable for small design companies and so many of our designers select this software over others.
Next, we have Browzwear, a virtual prototyping tool that allows designers to create 3D models of their designs and apply different fabrics and prints. It has ad-ons which we find make the fabric selections more diverse than CLO-3D. This is our 2nd favorite 3D platform.
Last but not least, we have Optitex, a highly-regarded software brand for 3D garment design. Optitex offers realistic fabric simulations, 3D modeling, and draping features, enabling designers to visualize their designs in different fabrics and colors quickly. We do not have any designers using this software.
Behind the Scenes: Our Designers Achieve the Perfect Fit and Look with 3D Computer Design
At Sewing Pattern Secrets, our designers primarily use CLO3d software, but some also use Browzwear. These brands are crucial in preventing mistakes in the sampling process and helping us make informed decisions about the garment’s fit and overall look.
After creating a 3D design, we sample several times until the fit is perfect, making changes in the software and creating new physical samples. We also edit the instructions until they are crystal clear, and everyone can understand them! Don’t worry; we won’t tell you how many versions it took to get everything just right!
So, there you have it, Sewing Buzzers! With 3D computer design, designers can create stunning garments with minimal waste and time.
HI. I'M MARGIE I love creating and creations of all kinds! I love Jesus, I love my family and I love to teach! That's what makes life exciting for me and that is why I have so much to share with you. I am founder and owner of SewingPatternSecrets LLC, based in Boston, MA. I am a writer and an avid sewist with a background in fine art and design from New England School of Art and Design, Boston. Sewing Patterns Secrets was conceived with my husband (my #1 supporter), inspired partly from my grandmother, but largely inspired by my mother, who passed in 2017. She supported many decades of my artistry, including, but not limited to, sewing. Whilst my mother was indeed, an important benefactor, my husband has unfailingly supported all of my endeavours and is the Director of Sales. As the Product and Project Director, I conceptualized, developed, produced, tested, and edited all of the 125+ curated sewing patterns, instructions and ebooks, using my decades of experience. I managed a team of fashion designers to help me with the 3D software and production. I and three other master seamstresses, vector artists, graphic designers, and one amazing fashion illustrator. Production took two solid years of detail and hard work and another six months of sales funnel creation. I give thanks to: Fer, Rima, Oksana, Debbie, Kathreen, Suanne, Elizabeth, Jacki, Bronwen, Kimberly, and the many others who contributed. As such, I am gifted with the ability to share with you my expertise and everything that I have learned along the way, as relates not only sewing, but to project and product creation and all areas of design: web, graphic, fashion, pattern and product creation. This would include 10s of software, marketing and SEO tools, affiliate marketing and so much more. All you have to do is ask! In addition to writing all of the ebooks for Sewing Pattern Secrets, I am also the main writer of this blog, but looking for other (Human) sewing bloggers who would like to partner with us. We welcome guest bloggers, vloggers, influencers and also an invitation to blog for you as well. We always want your advice and we also want to hear from you regarding ideas and improvements to our blog, product, or advertising. PLEASE COMMENT. Please do write me at support@sewingpatternsecrets.com.
